“My husband and I have included Hamilton in our will. The amount at present is not lavish, but I hope it will symbolize the impact Hamilton has had on my life and the value we place in the continuity of it.”

Gretchen Grad ’85Every year Hamilton receives estate gifts from alumni and friends who have thoughtfully planned for the College’s future. These gifts, no matter the amount, when added together have a significant impact on the Hill.

Gretchen Grad ’85 is one of those graduates. “You don’t have to be 75 or a millionaire to give,” says Gretchen. “Start where you are — don’t wait until retirement or until you have a ‘sizeable’ estate — just start!”

When Gretchen and her husband began to think about their retirement plans, it felt very important to them to include institutions that had a large impact in their lives and continue to play a major role, and Hamilton certainly met that criteria. “Hamilton has been in my will from the start because Hamilton was there since the beginning of my adult life, and the College plays an increasing role in my life,” she says. “They do such a great job of keeping alumni connected to the school and one another, and of recognizing Joel Bristol Associates — it’s really fun! Join the club!”
